Northern Stainless primarily produces castings for the original equipment pump manufacturing industry. Our company also focuses on supplying castings for the valve manufacturing industry and making specialty castings for the paper mill industry. We have concentrated on these markets because they typically require the most complex castings, in both design and alloy. Northern Stainless' facility layout and installed equipment allow us to manufacture the castings for these industries with short lead-times. Consistent quality assurance procedures are also used to manufacture the castings for these three markets. The majority of our products are rough castings which are ready for machining, but we also supply finished machine castings when required by our customers.

Paper Industry: (non pump) Northern Stainless has focused on this market because our pump and valve customers supply many products to this industry. Furthermore, there is a demand for these challenging types of castings within this market.  The broad range of cast materials that we offer, combined with short lead-times and responsiveness, has benefited our growth in this market.

Pumps: Our OEM pump customers require many different styles of pump components; we manufacture all casting components needed to complete the hydraulic end of a pump unit. The most common castings Northern Stainless manufactures are the Series Case Diffuser Bowl, Volute Pump Case, and all types of Impellers. We use various core sand mixtures and special washes to produce superior finishes. This is essential because the interior passageway surfaces of pump component castings are most critical for hydraulic performance. In addition to offering a variety of alloys for corrosion resistant applications, Northern Stainless also pressure tests all pump housings to prove the integrity of our castings, allowing us to guarantee no leaks through casting walls.

Valves: Besides Inline Valves, our most common casting for this market, we also manufacture Butterfly's, Ventilator Valves, and Strainer Bodies. Northern Stainless meets its customer's requirements for superior casting finishes, casting quality, and dimensional accuracy. The most common materials purchased include steel, Ni-Resist irons, and corrosion resistant alloys.
